FMI City - Orchid Garden
The 414-unit Orchid Garden is the last phase of the 2,000-unit middle-class residential housing estate project, known as FMI City, which was launched in 1996 by First Myanmar Investment Co. Ltd. (FMICO), a public company incorporated in Myanmar. To date, the registered shareholding of the SPA Group in FMI is approximately 56%.
Situated in the North-West of Yangon, Myanmar, FMI City sits on 463.8 acres of land and is approximately 7 miles from the centre of Yangon City and 4 miles from Yangon International Airport. The FMI City residential project comprises mainly single and double-storey detached houses and four-story condominiums. A township within itself, FMI City has its own sports and recreation centre, supermarket and shopping arcade, bank, wet market and a bus ferry service to downtown.
FMI City benefits from being Myanmar's first gated community, with its own security and estate management services. Targeted towards Myanmar's emerging middle income buyers, some 1,506 properties have been sold to date, with some 900 families or 5,500 people living in this community. During the past nine years, FMI City has become a benchmark for mass housing development in the Union of Myanmar.
Orchid Gardens was launched in 2001 as the most upmarket section of the FMI City community and 198 homes have been sold since marketing began. A further 300 Orchid Gardens remain to be developed. A typical house in Orchid Garden occupies a plot of 6,400 sq. ft with a two-storey bungalow of 2,500 sq ft. comprising 3 bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a study and a maid's quarters.
Lion Century Property owns 52.5% of the land development rights of Orchid Garden, with the remaining 47.5% held by FMI.
