Listed on the Singapore Exchange ("SGX") on 24 August 2006, Yoma
Strategic Holdings Ltd. ("YSH" or "the Group") is a leading business
corporation with current interests and activities in Myanmar and
beyond. Registered in Singapore, YSH's principal activities involve the
development of land, sale of private residential properties,
construction, as well as design and project management for real estate
developments in Myanmar and the PRC.
Nonetheless, the Group's long term vision is to be a multinational
corporation with a diversified portfolio of businesses located in
numerous countries across the Asia Pacific.
YSH has put in place a strategic platform for achieving this vision.
The listing on the SGX has set high standards of corporate governance
and a transparent system of reporting within YSH. Together with the
stewardship of an experienced Board of Directors, the Group continues
to set itself demanding performance standards.
YSH's growth will be derived from organic business expansion as well as
via new acquisitions. The Group sees itself as an ideal business
partner for multinational corporations from beyond the Asia Pacific, as
it has the requisite experience in developing and managing successful
business ventures in emerging markets such as Myanmar. Currently, YSH
is reviewing several potential new business opportunities within and
outside of Myanmar.
Current Portfolio
Currently, YSH's portfolio of development properties includes
apartments, condominiums, semi-detached houses and bungalows. In
property development, YSH manages all the property projects initiated
by Serge Pun & Associates (SPA) Group, including the provision of
detailed budgeting, costing and planning and project management. The
Group also advises on the design of developments, allocation and
deployment of resources as well as the marketing and sales of projects
to end buyers.
YSIL have three fully-owned subsidiaries which are as follows:
The Group intends to create a
broader and more balanced revenue stream by exploring new business
opportunities outside the real estate sector and taking strategic
stakes in projects that will yield recurring revenues for the Group.
The following subsidiaries form part of the Group’s strategic
diversification plans.
As part of its strategic plans
to undertake real estate projects outside of Myanmar, YSH owns 27%
interest in Zhong Bei Building, a mixed-used property in the Dalian
Economic & Technological Development Zone currently under
development. Zhong Bei Building is currently being developed by SPA
(Dalian) Property Development Co., Ltd., a wholly foreign-owned
subsidiary of Winner Sight Investments Limited.
This strategic move will
enable the Group to widen the geographical scope of its property
development business and it is also in line with the Group’s plan to
launch new property developments in the near future.
Plantation Resources Pte Ltd
(“PRPL“) is a private company incorporated in Singapore, with principal
involvement in plantation development and investment in the supply of
agricultural crops and produce. PRPL has been appointed to manage and
operate the Maw Tin Estate, a 100,000-acre plantation in Myanmar that
is intended to be substantially cultivated with Jatropha Curcas, a
drought resistant perennial plant capable of producing oil which can be
used as an alternative feedstock for bio-diesel.
The move into Jatropha Curcas
and bio-diesel is brought about by the global demand for bio-fuel and
this global demand is expected to increase in the long term.
